I cup flour
1/2 cup salt
1 Tablespoon vegetable oil
1 Tablespoon Cream of Tartar
1 cup water

Mix all the ingredients together in a pot.  Stir constantly over low heat until the mixture forms a ball.  Allow it to cool.  Turn it out on a floured surface and knead.  It will keep for a long time in a plastic baggie or plastic container.
"I Can Read" Book
Find a small photo album, the kind with the plastic sleeves.  The dollar stores are a great place to find these albums.  You and your child can find words and symbols that your child can read.  For example, cut out the words and pictures from the Target store, McDonald's, Walmart advertisements.  Slip the words and pictures into the sleeves of the photo album  and your child will have a book they can read to you!
Clipping Coupons
Children love to practice cutting skills!  They can use the coupons that come in the mail for this practice.  When they have some mastery over their cutting, they can clip coupons for the family's shopping trip!
